Shih-Ching Yeh received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science at the University of Southern California (USC) in 2004 and 2008 respectively. He served as a computer scientist at the Institute for Creative Technologies at USC from 2008 to 2009. Afterwards, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at National Central University (Taiwan) from 2009 to 2014. Since 2014 fall, he has joined Sun-Yat Sen University and served as an associate professor in the School of Mobile Information Engineering. His research interests emphasize employing interactive technologies, virtual reality and biomed-sensing technologies in interdisciplinary research areas such as neuromotor rehabilitation, cognitive training, surgical simulation, digital learning and psychiatric-mental treatments, and utilizing computational intelligence to construct data-driven diagnosis or assessment methods in clinics. His primary research objectives have involved focusing on specific medical or health care concerns to 1) design and develop innovative multimodal systems that addressing unmet clinical needs; 2) examine their therapeutic effects though clinical trials; 3) derive sensory-based indices for performance assessment or behaviors interpretation; 4) construct data-driven diagnosis or assessment methods for clinical usage and 5) develop mobile-health or tele-medical system.

Kalai Anand Ratnam was born and raised in Kuala Lumpur. He obtained his Ph.D in Information Technology from PETRONAS Technology University in 2014. On another note, He received a Master of Network Computing from Monash University Australia in 2002 with a Distinction. His research interests includes in the area of Health Informatics, Information Systems, Operations Management, Advance Statistical Analysis, Software Design & Development, Big Data, Cloud Computing, Green ICT, Internet of Things & Social Media. He has published several technical papers in both conferences and peer reviewed journals, managed software projects for startup companies and mentored students for software design and development competitions in both local and international arena with outstanding results. In 2013, he was awarded the Prototype Research Grant Scheme (PRGS) by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia for the Development of A Cloud-based Ubiquitous Healthcare System as part of his Ph.D., research work.

As part of his personal achievement and awards, he has received numerous awards at both local and international levels. The first was the InnoServe International ICT Innovative Services Contest 2013 which was held at Taiwan from November 9th to November 11th 2013. He was awarded the Best Innovation for the design and development of the product names “Innovative and Eco-Friendly Cooling Fan - A Substitute for Air Conditioners”. The same project was also awarded as the Winner for the category of “Best of Tertiary Student project - Software / Hardware” at the MSC APICTA Malaysia 2013 in November 2013. In 2010, he received three (3) awards (Champion, Best Team Presentation & Best Implementation of Multipoint) at the Microsoft Imagine Cup Malaysia for the project titled “Project Apple”. He represented Malaysia at Global Finals of the Imagine Cup 2010 in Poland and emerged as the Top 6. Imagine Cup is an annual competition sponsored and hosted by Microsoft Corp. which brings together young technologists worldwide to help resolve some of the world's toughest challenges.

On a professional note, Kalai Anand Ratnam is a Senior Lecturer & a Research Leader (Cloud Computing & Information Systems Management) at the Asia Pacific University, an award winning University established in 1993 for the purpose of nurturing IT Talents. Till to date he has successfully managed and executed 12 software development projects since 2012 under the MSC Malaysia Innovation Voucher programme. MSC Malaysia Innovation Voucher is a programme designed to increase collaboration between Malaysia's public and private Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) and Research Institutions (RI) with MSC Malaysia status companies, so as to tap into each other’s capabilities and strengths. This serve to create a cultural shift in the business community's approach to innovation as companies can tap into experts/talents residing outside the company. The managed collaborative R&D activities would then facilitate the transfer of know-how from the collaborators to the MSC Malaysia status companies and vice versa. S. K. Ray did his PhD with Dr. Ramesh V. Sonti in the field of Molecular Plant Microbe Interactions at Centre for Cellular Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad, India. He characterized a type II protein secretion system and a nonfimbrial adhesin in Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae, the causal agent of bacterial leaf blight in rice.

After joining Tezpur University since 2002, he is doing research in fields of Molecular Evolution and Molecular Plant Microbe Interactions. His laboratory is focusing to characterize common virulence factors of plant and animal pathogenic bacteria and their evolutionary significance.

In 2010 S. K. Ray went on a DBT Overseas Associateship to work in the laboratory of Dr. Stephane Genin, Laboratoire des Interactions Plantes-Microorganisms (LIPM), CNRS-INRA, Castanet-Tolosan, France, where he studied the role of rpoN in Ralstonia solanacaerum virulence.

He teaches genetics and molecular biology to graduate and post-graduate students.

Research Interests

I have an interest in a wide range of physiological measurements in the brain and heart using MR Dynamic Contrast Enhanced (DCE), Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) imaging and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) techniques. My recent academic interests are the quantification of cerebral permeability in human and rat models of stroke and cerebral tumor using MRI contrast agents, measurement of cerebral blood flow, transfer rate, blood volume, mean transit time, arterial input function modeling, pharmacokinetic modeling, model averaging, adaptive models and applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in DCE-MRI data analyses. I am also actively working on the outcome prediction of stroke infarction from acute DCE and non-DCE MR information in human using different statistical and analytical modeling. I am familiar with brain lateralization for Epileptic patients as well as Radiotherapy Treatment (RT) planning and shielding. Since 2009, I have been studying MR quantitative

biomarkers of drug efficacy for RT and anti-angiogenesis drugs in breast cancer and brain tumor patients. I have technical expertise in applied mathematics and scientific applications programming and have developed, maintained, and documented NeuroPipes, a standard suite of reconstruction, post-processing, and filtering programs for MRI data acquired on different MR consoles/machines (7T and 3T).

Sun-Yuan Hsieh received the PhD degree in computer science from National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, in June 1998. He then served the compulsory two-year military service. From August 2000 to January 2002, he was an assistant professor at the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, National Chi Nan University. In February 2002, he joined the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, National Cheng Kung University, and now he is a distinguished professor. He received the 2007 K. T. Lee Research Award, President's Citation Award (American Biographical Institute) in 2007, Engineering Professor Award of Chinese Institute of Engineers (Kaohsiung Branch) in 2008, National Science Council’s Outstanding Research Award in 2009, IEEE Outstanding Technical Achievement Award (IEEE Tainan Section) in 2011, Outstanding Electronic Engineering Professor Award of Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineers in 2013, and Outstanding Engineering Professor Award of Chinese Institute of Engineers in 2014. After receiving his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from University of Tehran, Iran in 2010, Dr Mohammad-Reza Nazem-Zadeh pursued his career as a post-doctoral research fellow in Radiation Oncology Department, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. In the field of cancer imaging and radiation oncology, he researched on assessment of radiation-induced neuro-toxicity in patients with metastasis and development of early biomarkers of normal tissue necrosis in patients with glioblastoma. He currently works in Henry ford Health system, Detroit, Michigan and does research in the development, evaluation, and validation of novel knowledge-based approaches to segment and characterize anatomical structures from medical images and integrate them in a decision support system. His goal is to facilitate and improve diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment assessment of the patients with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy. He has expertise in signal and image processing, modeling, and analysis of anatomical, functional, and diffusion-weighted MRI, in the fields of for Stroke, Epilepsy, and Cancer Diagnosis, as well as Radiation Oncology.

He is currently working as research fellow in Department of Microbiology, University of Calcutta. All these period, he has been actively associated with teaching in Chemistry and doing research in the fields of atomistic simulation, QSAR, drug-design. He used atomistic simulation to explore folding landscape of small peptide fragments as well as the dynamical transition from open to closed conformation of Secretase enzyme. He works extensively in the field of natural product based drug discovery. His focus is to develop new lead compounds based on natural polyphenolic scaffolds in Alzheimer’s disease. In addition to this he is also involved in the study of the interaction of some important polyphenols with cyclodextrin to improve their bioavailability and solvation thus enhancing the ability of polyphenols as potential therapeutic agents. Till now he published 24 research articles in peer reviewed international journals.

Dr. Wen Dui received her Ph.D degree in Institute of Biophysics at Chinese Academy of Sciences in cell biology. Dr. Dui has been working intensely on genetics, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry and related bioinformatics analyses. Dr. Dui quietly focused on molecular generation of mutants, cellular identification of mutations, genotypic characterization, phenotypic analysis and signal pathway dissection in the fields of cell cycle, protein degradation and epigenetics. She is now a research fellow in Pathology department at university of Michigan. Her scientific interests include cell cycle, DNA repair, protein degradation, histone modification, transcription, replication and RNA machinery regulation. She is currently working in the transcription and replication regulation by Histone H3 Lys27 methylation. Dr. Dui is authored or co-authored for research articles in multiple peered reviewed journals, including PLoS One, Protein Cell, Journal of Genetics & Genomics and Molecular biology of the Cell. I received my BS in Biochemistry from Delhi University, and my master’s degree inBiotechnology from M.S. University of Baroda, India. Before commencing the PhD program, I worked as a research fellow in the lab of Dr. Anil Suri at National Institute of Immunology, India. I am currently pursuing my doctorate degree in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics at Kansas State University. My expected graduation date is April 2015. In our lab, we are investigating the molecular functions of sterols in plant growth and development using genetics interfaced with systems biology platforms in genomics, proteomics, and lipidomics as tools. My research is concentrated in two areas: Understanding the role of Steroidogenic acute regulatory protein (StAR)-related lipid transfer (START) domains in plant homeodomain transcription factors and to elucidate genetic interactions between GL2, HDG11 and MYB23 transcription factors in specification of trichome cell fate.

Bin Wei received his PhD from Institute of Biophysics at Chinese Academy of Sciences. Dr Wei received training in biophysics, biochemistry and molecular and cell physiology. He obtained his M.Sc. in Information Technology from University of Technology, Baghdad Iraq in 2004 and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Jamia Millia Islamia, New-Delhi-110025, India, in 2011. He carried out Doctoral Degree on Computer Science at the University of JMI. From October 2005 he was Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science, College of Computer, University of Anbar, where he taught in the B.Sc. (Computer Science) course. His research interests are Databases and Data Mining, Bioinformatics, Computational Technology, Predictive Modeling, and Bioalgorithmcs. Dr. Raed has authored over 43 publications including 14 journal papers, 21 international conference papers and 8 national conference papers. He has invited talks in conferences in India and China. He is a member of IEEE Computer Society.

Dr Freitas completed his doctorate in pharmacology with the pilocarpine-induced convulsive process investigation in brain areas of adult rats: a neurochemical study at the Federal University of Ceara, Brazil in 2006. After his pharmacological study of antioxidant compounds with anticonvulsant effects in Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil in 2007 as a post doctorate, he joined the Department of Biochemistry and Pharmacology at Federal University of Piaui, Brazil in 2008, where he directed his research to essential oils with anxiolytic, antidepressant and anticonvulsant activities. This led to the development of seven patent applications for technology products at the National Institute of Industrial Property. Dr. Freitas is researcher of National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) from1996. He is also member of the editorial board of the Open Journal of Neuroscience and the Brazilian Journal of Pharmacognosy. Concurrently, Dr. Freitas is ad hoc consultant Iberoamerican Program of Science and Technology para el Desarrollo and meber of the National Institute of C & T Pharmaceutical Innovation (INCT-if). Has experience in the field of pharmacology, neuropharmacology with an emphasis on studying neurochemical and histopathological changes mainly antioxidant compounds and medicinal plants in animal models of depression, anxiety and epilepsy.

I was trained both as a molecular/structural biologist during my graduate studies and computational
biologist during my postdoctoral training. I became independent at the end of 2011 with a joint appointment
between the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology and the Department of Computer and Information
Science. As an independent investigator, I am proficient with experimental techniques such as cDNA cloning,
protein purification, mutagenesis, Surface Plasmon resonance (SPR), isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC),
X-Ray Crystallography and Small Angle X-Ray Scattering. In addition, I am skilled in computational
methods including MD simulation, bioinformatics and in-silico drug screening. I have been solely teaching
“Algorithms for Bioinformatics”, a core course for graduate students of School of Informatics. My current
research interest is in protein structure, dynamics and function.

Manuel G. Penedo is an Professor of the Department of Computation of the Faculty of Informatics
in the University of Coruña, Spain, where he has been since 1991. He got his PhD in Physics, in
1997, in the University of Santiago de Compostela. He is author of over 200 papers in international
books, journals and conference proceedings. Currently, he heads the research group VARPA
(Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition) in the University of Coruña, he also is responsible for
the area of medical image processing at the Institute of Biomedical Research of A Coruña (INIBIC).
He is currently the Director of Research Center for Information Technology and Communications
(CITIC), University of A Coruña. Belongs to various international scientific comitees (journals and
