Biography

Syeda Sohaila Naz has core expertise in the field of Chemistry and her focused area of research is Synthetic Organic Chemistry. This field is more relevant to medicine. Being part of research industry, she is highly enthusiastic to add value in pharmaceutical industries, by sharing her expertise in chemical research focusing nanomedicine, which is no doubt an emerging field of science. She believes that understanding of organic chemistry will help her a lot in developing nanotechnology for biomedical purpose.

Before joining Women University Swabi in November, 2015, she worked at different research organizations and universities. She served as Senior Scientific Officer at National Agriculture Centre (NARC) Islamabad, as Research Associate at Atomic Energy Cancer Hospital, NORI, Islamabad, as a Visiting Faculty at Islamia College University, Peshawar (ICP), where she supervised M. Phil scholars in the field of nanomedicine and taught various courses at MSc level. She worked as an Assistant Professor under IPFP Program HEC from September 12, 2013 to September 11, 2014 and supervised M. Phil scholars in the field of nanomedicine. She is involved in peer review of various research journals.

Sohaila received her PhD degree in the field of Synthetic Organic Chemistry in 2013 from University of Peshawar, Pakistan.  She was awarded a fully funded scholarship for the entire PhD by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan under the Indigenous 5000 PhD Fellowship Program.

Dr. Rahimi received his B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran. He received his MSc and PhD in Electronic Engineering (Nanoelectronics) from Iran University of Science and Technology in 2007 and 2012, respectively. He was a visiting scholar at the school of chemistry, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in 2011, and research scholar at the school of chemistry, the University of Sydney in 2012, where he worked with Prof. Jeffrey R. Reimers and Prof. Noel S. Hush.

Dr. Rahimi is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Electrical Engineering, Shahrood University of Technology, Iran. His research interests include the design and study of molecular electronic devices such as molecular switches, wires, etc. Simple analytical models are developed/or applied to investigate the electronic structure/coupled nuclear motion that characterize the device functionality in gas-phase or condensed phases. These techniques include ab initio and density functional computational methods or models in molecular mechanics.

Prof. Yuri L. Lyubchenko received his PhD in Molecular Biophysics from the Moscow Institute Physics and Technology (Russia) during the period of 1969-1971. He also received D. Sc. degree in Molecular Biology from Institute of Molecular Genetics (Moscow, Russia) in 1989. Currently, he is Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, NE.

Research of Lyubchenko spans over such areas as (1) molecular mechanisms of DNA replication and recombination; (2) chromatin structure and dynamics revealed by nanoimaging techniques and(3) nanoimaging approaches to Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other protein misfolding diseases. A number of discoveries were made in all areas. In the area 1, the mechanism of Holliday junction branch migration was discovered. In area 2, therole of electrostatic interactions in chromatin dynamics was identified and novel models for the chromatin remodeling was proposed. In the area 3, the molecular mechanism initialing the amyloid proteins aggregation process was proposed. These processes trigger the early onset of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and other devastating neurodegenerative diseases. A number of critical contributions were made in the methodology of atomic force microscopy (AFM) including topographic and force spectroscopy AFM applications. The current research of Lyubchenko is supported by three NIH and one NSF grants.

Based on this research, he has received several awards and honors, such as UNMC distinguished scientist (2008). He is anAssociate Editor for Nanomedicine: Nanotechnology, Biology, and Medicine andNew Journal of Science and serves as editorial member of several reputed journals like Nanotechnology, Science and Applications, Reports in Medical Imaging, International Journal of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Journal of Molecular Pharmaceutics & Organic Process Research. He has authored 218 research articles/books. He is a member of American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB), American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), American Chemical Society (ACS) and Biophysical Society (BPS).

I am Raheleh Mohammadpour, assistance professor in Institute for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at Sharif University of Technology where I have been a faculty member since 2012. I received my B.A. and M.SC. in Physics from Sharif University in 2002 and 2005 respectively. My research was focused on fabrication of gas laser based on metal halides. I completed my Ph.D. from Institute for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in 2010. My project was about fabrication and characterization of dye sensitized solar cells based on arrays of TiO2 nanotubes. I held a post doctoral fellowship from 2010 to 2012. During tis time, I also worked as a visiting researcher in Angstrom Lab, Uppsala University, Sweden in Prof. Hagfeldt group as well as National Chio Tang University, Taiwan with collaboration of Prof. Diau. My research lied in area of fabrication and optimization of novel nanostructured materials for photovoltaics as well as sensor applications.

He is an outstanding leader with sustained international acclaims for his work in Polymer Science and Engineering, Polymer Nanocomposites, Elastomers, Polymer Blends, Interpenetrating Polymer Networks, Polymer Membranes, Green Composites and Nanocomposites, Nanomedicine and Green Nanotechnology. Dr. Thomas’s ground breaking inventions in polymer nanocomposites, polymer blends, green bionanotechnological and nano-biomedical sciences, have made transformative differences in the development of new materials for automotive, space, housing and biomedical fields. Professor Thomas has received a number of national and international awards which include: Fellowship of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Distinguished Professorship from Josef Stefan Institute, Slovenia, MRSI medal, CRSI medal and Sukumar Maithy award. He is in the list of most productive researchers in India and holds a position of No.5. Professor Thomas has published over 600 peer reviewed research papers, reviews and book chapters. He has co-edited 35 books published by Royal Society, Wiley, Wood head, Elsevier, CRC Press, Springer, Nova etc. He is the inventor of 4 patents. The H index of Prof. Thomas is 67 and has more than 17,000 citations. Prof. Thomas has delivered over 300 Plenary/Inaugural and Invited lectures in national/international meetings over 30 countries. Currently Professor of Biochemistry at Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Hamdard University, Dr SK Jain has a throughout first class academic career and recipient of several prestigious fellowships. He received his Ph.D. from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in 1974. He then proceeded to USA and received advanced research training at Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis; Tufts Medical School, Boston and Harvard Medical School, Boston. In 1985, Prof. Jain joined National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi as a Core Scientist. In 1990, he joined Hamdard University and founded the Department of Biochemistry and later the department of Biotechnology at the university. He has held various administrative positions including Head of the Departments of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Dean of faculties of Science, Allied Health and Interdisciplinary Sciences and was its Officiating Vice-Chancellor in 2000. He was a visiting Professor in Catholic University, Rome, visiting Scientist at Institute of Virology, Oxford. He also served as consultant to WHO and US-AID. A member of several professional societies, Professor Jain has >300 published papers, book chapters and presentations to his credit. Large number of scholars have received their Ph.D. degree under his supervision. The current research interests of Professor Jain include the proteomics of cancers, molecular immunology of infectious disease and vaccine development.

Zakir Hossain was born in 1978 in Chittagong, Bangladesh. He received his Master of Science Degree in Molecular Medical Microbiology from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom in 2006. As a major component of the course, he has carried out a six-month research project on cellular immunology targeting human monocyte response to Helicobacter pylori infection. Mr. Hossain has also held the position of a research molecular microbiologist at Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR), Dhaka, Bangladesh. He has performed research into virulence determinants of major foodborne bacteria and fungi as well as emerging antimicrobial resistance since 2009. Zakir has been affiliated to an extensive assignment involving the study of potential disease burden related to enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) seropathotypes. He has additionally served as a research supervisor of university students undertaking thesis work. He has authored a number of published original and review articles, and presented his research at different local and international symposiums. His recent works were accepted for presentations at American Society for Microbiology (ASM) conferences held in France and the United States in 2012. Zakir Hossain is an active member of quite a few scientific societies around the world, and is also serving as a reviewer and editorial board member for several international journals. By working as a medical microbiologist, Zakir aims to further contribute to microbial research and understanding of infectious diseases, thereby changing global health scenario.

Dr. Yuan Cheng received her Bachelor degree from Fudan University, China in July 2003, and Ph.D degree from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore in April 2008. Upon completion of her graduate degree, she joined the Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC) in Singapore and continued working in IHPC as a scientist until present. 
Dr. Yuan Cheng has been working on computational modeling and simulation of nanoscale assembly, including mechanical properties of carbon nanotubes, graphene, and carbon nanoscrolls, and explored the application of these nanomaterials in design of nanoactuator, drug/gene delivery vehicles, hydrogen storage device, etc. In addition, she has also been interested in investigating physical properties of bio-inspired materials, and the interactions between biomaterials and nanomaterials. I am interested in fundamental studies about naturally derived nanomaterials, such as nano-components extracted from English ivy (Hederal helix) and Sundew (Drosera spp.). I am working on elucidating the molecular mechanisms for the surface climbing of English ivy and applying ivy nanoparticles in biomedical fields, such as drug delivery, tissue engineering, and sunscreen fillers. I am also interested in bio-mimetic and bio-inspired studies that apply principles obtained from biological sciences for engineering application

Prof. Yao received BS and MS degrees from Anhui University of Science and Technology, China and obtained Ph.D. degree in Chemical Technology form East China University of Science and Technology. He visited Curtin University as a Visiting Professor from March 2011 to March 2012. 
Currently he is working as Assistant Professor in School of chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Hefei University of Technology, China. He has co-authored more than 50 papers in refereed journals, including J. Hazard. Mater., Ind. Eng. Chem. Res. , J. Colloid Interface Sci. , Chem. Eng. J., Chem. Eng. In 2005, worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in School of Biosciences, Washington State Univeristy (Pullman, WA, USA). Since 2007, worked in department of pathology, Houston Methodist Hospital (Houston, TX, USA), focusing on targeted therapy for anaplastic large cell lymphoma.
