Dr. Sulaiman Shams earned a BS (Hons) degree in Biotechnology from the University of Peshawar in 2006.  He completed his Doctorate in Molecular Biology (with specialization in Stem Cells Regenerative Medicine) from National Center of excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB) in 2012.   In August 2012 he joined the faculty at the Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) as an Assistant Professor in the Biochemistry Department. He established Stem Cells Regenerative Medicine Lab in AWKUM. He is the author of several papers and abstracts and reviewer of international reputed journals. Dr. Sulaiman research interests include Biochemistry/Cell and Molecular Biology, stem cells and regenerative medicine.

Nitin Kumar Singh is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Entomology and Nematology, Agricultural Research Organization, The Volcani Center, Bet Dagan, Israel. His research is involved in studying the chemo-perception/ behavioural of insects and mites with respect to food, pheromone and environmental cues for understanding the olfactory receptor expression.  He is attempting to understand the olfactory behaviour at physiological, cellular and molecular level to design the antagonist model which can be used to arrest/mislead the pest’s perception. He pursued PhD in insect molecular biology from Bharathidasn University, Tiruchirappalli, India. In doctoral research he has identified the site and stage specific biosynthesis of major egg yolk protein Vitellogenin (Vg) and their cleavage into Vg-Heavy (Vg-H) and Vg-Light (Vg-L) chain. He has exploited a variety of biochemical, biophysical and mass spectrometry based approaches to functionally characterize Vg protein and further went to evaluate the antibacterial role of Vg protein against the bacterial diseases in the silkworm. He proved the earlier expression of Vg can prevent the bacterial diseases in the silkworm. This finding will be helpful in the disease free silkworm rearing and decrease the economic loss in the silk industry. In his master degree, he involved himself for studying insilco protein- protein interaction to reveal the fundamental biological function and improve the interaction information in therapeutic approaches. He has authored many research articles and has severed as a reviewer for various renowned journals.

 

Research Interests

Incorporating diverse bio-science technologies and knowledge sources to study the protein-protein interaction in various model systems. Since, interaction between proteins is important for fundamental biological function, information about the interaction improves our understanding of disease and can provide the basis for new therapeutic approaches.

Interested to study the chemo-perception/ behavioural of insects, ticks and mites with respect to food, pheromone and environmental cues for understanding the olfactory receptor expression.

Magnus Gram is a researcher at the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Clinical Sciences, Lund University, Sweden. After obtaining his PhD from Department of Infection Medicine and training in Cell & Molecular Biology, Redox Biology and Extracellular Hemoglobin Toxicity, he moved in to the field of Neurobiology and the group of Professor David Ley, with particular focuses on the neuroprotection of newborn brain. He has published more than 25 peer reviewed articles, is a co-author of 5 patent applications, is a guest associate editor for Frontiers in Oxidant Physiology and serves as a regular reviewer for several journals in the field of Cell & Molecular Biology, Redox Biology and Biochemistry. His recent work has focused on mechanisms of brain injury following intraventricular hemorrhage in preterm infants and the development of new therapies.

Research Interests

The overall research interest of Dr. Magnus Gram is to identify pathophysiological mechanisms and targets available for therapeutical intervention in order to prevent development of brain damage and subsequent neurological impairment. From a clinical perspective, the research targets two groups of infants:
1. Preterm birth infants who develop cerebral intraventricular hemorrhage.
2. Newborns with congenital heart defects requiring cardiopulmonary bypass.
The research focuses on development and implementation of novel neuroprotective strategies with the aim of promoting brain development in newborns with high risk for neurodevelopmental impairment.

Priyanka Trivedi is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic, Scottsdale, AZ, USA. Her research area involves vaccine-based cancer immunotherapy. She is involved in studying the role of MUC1, a mucin that is over-expressed and aberrantly glycosylated in various types of cancer, in tumor progression, metastasis and modulation of the immune system. She would like to discover the basic mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of carcinogenesis and the ways to prevent the progression of carcinogenesis to benefit mankind. She pursued her Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology and M. S.(Pharm.) in Regulatory Toxicology at the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali, Punjab, India. Her doctoral research was mainly focused on elucidating the molecular mechanisms involved in ulcerative colitis-associated local damage and extra-intestinal manifestations as well as colitis-associated colon carcinogenesis. During her masters, she was involved in several kinds of pre-clinical toxicity studies at the National Toxicology Center of NIPER. She is a winner of Carl C. Smith Graduate Student Award, 2nd place, Mechanisms Specialty Section of Society of Toxicology (SOT) during the 53rd annual meeting of SOT (Year 2014) at Phoenix, AZ, USA. She is also a winner of the Ranbaxy Science Scholar Award-2013. She is a member of various scientific societies such as American Association of Cancer Research (AACR), Society of Toxicology-USA (SOT), American College of Toxicology (ACT), Society of Toxicology-India (STOX) and Inflammation Research Association (IRA). She has authored many research and review articles and has served as a reviewer for various renowned journals.

Biography

Hi, my name is Zhenghui Wang. I'm a system guy, an optimistic day dreamer. I received my Master in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2004 and PhD in 2009 both at the Xi’an Jiaotong University , China. From 2006-now I worked in Department of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Medical College, Xi’an Jiaotong University. From 2010 I am Master's tutor and Associate Professor in Xi’an Jiaotong University. I received several honors Xi’an Jiaotong University. I has co-authored over 100 papers and over 5 patents , as the member of the Pan Asian facial plastic surgery Society and Chinese Medical Association of Otorhinolaryngology.

Research Interests

My research interests are in tissue engineering and tumor of head and neck, especially aiming at cartilage and skin. As system people, I'm interested in all kinds of biochemistry and biochemical Techniques, bioinformation, biomaterials etc. The spirit of system research is problem-oriented. System people should be able to use any kind of weapon to kill the dragon (*NOT* Don Quixote's windmills!).
